Abstract

In recent decades, there has been a pronounced deepening of the study of the virome of bats, driven not only by scientific curiosity but also by the urgent relevance in the context of global pandemics such as the coronavirus infection. Many pathogens causing such infections are associated with bats, often serving as both primary sources of diseases and their vectors. Bats, as carriers and vectors of various viruses, represent a significant focus of biological research, particularly regarding their impact on human health. This article attempts to systematize information about the most prevalent viruses associated with bats on a global scale. Additionally, it analyzes major disease outbreaks linked to these microorganisms.

This review not only organizes information on various viruses associated with bats but also underscores the urgency of further research in this field for effective control and prevention of viral outbreaks. One of the crucial issues addressed in this article is the pressing need not only for studying but also for systematically monitoring viruses transmitted by bats in Kazakhstan. Thus, this article aims to enhance the understanding of the importance of studying the virome of bats.
